The Rehabilitation Sciences Research Centre: Introduction
The Rehabilitation Sciences Research Centre is concerned with understanding the mechanisms underlying control of movement in health and disease and the investigation of intervention programs to reduce disability and improve participation in society. Professor Mary Galea, Foundation Professor of Clinical Physiotherapy at Austin Health, is Director of the Centre.
The Centre is based at the Austin’s Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre campus in Kew. Royal Talbot provides rehabilitation for patients with a wide range of disorders, including spinal cord injury, other neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injury, lower limb and upper limb amputations, and orthopaedic conditions such as arthritis or complex fractures.
