Clinical Placements
Special Requirements
Students enrolling in courses which include
clinical placements or field experience
as part of the award requirements are advised
that organisations which host clinical
placements may require students to have
obtained a police check regarding their
suitability to undertake such placements.
Some of the institutions hosting clinical
placements are situated at a distance from
the School of Physiotherapy. Students are
responsible for any transport and other
associated costs incurred in attending
clinical placements.
Student Responsibilities
Students undertaking clinical placements
as part of the Master of Physiotherapy
by Coursework program should note the following
responsibilities which are expected of
all postgraduate students:
- Preparing for the placement by studying
appropriate theoretical material.
- Preparing realistic clinical education
objectives prior to the placement and
negotiating these with the School stream
coordinator and the clinical tutor.
- Presenting to clinical staff during
the placement eg. Case presentation,
project topic, theoretical material.
- Sharing workload with clinicians as
appropriate.
- Being considerate of clinicians/tutors clinical
responsibilities.
