How do I transfer from another tertiary course?

You may apply to the first year of the course from other tertiary courses of study if you meet the prerequisite requirements. However you will need to compete for the few quota places available and will need an excellent academic record.  You should apply for the first year through VTAC (as above).

If you are already an enrolled student at the University of Melbourne, you must complete an internal transfer application.  Internal applications are made online via the Student Information System and will open in October.  The closing date for Internal Transfer applications is Friday 28th November 2008.  You must also undertake the UMAT. (see Entry requirements).

How are students selected?

Selection for Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian resident Year 12 school leavers will be based on a combination of the applicant's ENTER, performance in the UMAT, and level of performance in prerequisite subjects (see Entry requirements). Preference will be given to applicants who have obtained their VCE over not more than two years.

Each course will have a quota on the number of students it can admit in any one year. The best qualified students are chosen first and selection continues until the course is filled. Courses select students on the basis of the selection criteria detailed above.

For full details of the University's statutes, regulations and resolutions on selection see Selection Principles & Legislation.

Commonwealth supported enrolment

Under the Federal Government's Commonwealth supported places, students who are Australian citizens, permanent residents or New Zealand citizens studying a higher education award course are required to pay fees towards the cost of each year of their course.

CSP fees are charged at different base rates for different courses. Each student's CSP liability is calculated on the specific subjects in which they are enrolled using these base rates. For the latest information on contributions see Commonwealth Supported Places.

A number of options are available for paying CSP fees. For more information see Information for Commonwealth supported students, a booklet published by the Department of Education, Science and Training.

Educationally, financially or socially disadvantaged students enrolling in undergraduate programs can apply to Access Melbourne for CSP exemptions and Scholarships.

Can I receive credit for previous studies?

Applicants with other tertiary studies may be considered for credit exemptions in subjects in the BPhysio. To qualify for such exemptions the course undertaken must be considered equivalent in content and method of instruction and a high academic performance attained. The Faculty has guidelines for awarding credit exemptions and reserves the right to decide the awarding or not of any such credits. As the program is highly integrated, previous studies are rarely directly comparable. Such previous studies, while not suitable for credit, are frequently advantageous for related work in the BPhysio program.

Can I defer my study?
