Excellence Down-Under Conference
Saturday & Sunday 16 - 17 February 2008

Hosted by the School of Physiotherapy, The University of Melbourne in conjunction with The Continence Foundation of Australia Physiotherapy Group.

Welcome

Welcome to the third biennial Excellence Down-Under conference which will take place at the School of Physiotherapy, The University of Melbourne, over the weekend of 16 & 17 February 2008.

This conference will appeal to those with an interest in pelvic floor dysfunction and broader areas of women's health. It will showcase the latest research and evidence based practice for all physiotherapists interested in the treatment of continence and pelvic floor rehabilitation, featuring leading international and Australian physiotherapy researchers and clinicians.

The conference will feature two days of internationally reknown keynote speakers, scientific papers, break-out discussion groups, an excellent Saturday evening dinner, and a trade display. As before, this conference will be held during the month of the postgraduate pelvic floor certificate course at The University of Melbourne, allowing students enrolled in either the first or the second subject of this certificate to be present for this exciting weekend.

Keynote Topics

  • Pelvic Anatomy, Dr Susan Mercer, Assoc. Professor, University of Queensland
  • Pelvic Pain, Sherin Jarvis, Senior Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney

In addition, the usual program of invited abstracts will encourage a wide variety of Australian and New Zealand physiotherapists to submit their topics for a podium presentation. There will be interactive sessions, and ample time for networking and socialising in the breaks and the Saturday evening dinner. This event has generated enormous interest, enthusiasm and attendance in previous years, and we are looking forward to further showcasing and developing women's health and pelvic floor physiotherapy research and clinical practice highlights again in 2008.
