Pathways to the Doctor of Physiotherapy *
The Doctor of Physiotherapy * is a graduate-entry degree and as such applicants must have completed, or be in the final year of a relevant undergraduate degree before submitting an application.
Current school students
Current school students must first choose a relevant undergraduate degree at either the University of Melbourne or another tertiary institution. Students must ensure they are meeting the subject pre-requisites during their undergraduate degree.
University of Melbourne Undergraduate Degrees
| Bachelor of Biomedicine | Ideal pathway to the Doctor of Physiotherapy * as pre-requisite subjects are covered as a core component of the degree |
| Bachelor of Science | A good choice as the pre-requisite subjects are easily met as either core or electives within the degree |
| Bachelor of Arts Bachelor or Commerce Bachelor of Music Bachelor of Environments |
Subject pre-requisites can be met through these degrees, although a large proportion of breadth subjects will need to be used. |
Current University Students
Students currently completing an undergraduate degree must ensure that they are meeting the pre-requisite subjects of at least one subject in each of human anatomy and human physiology.
Other University Students
Students from universities other that the University of Melbourne are encouraged to apply for the Doctor of Physiotherapy *. Students will be required to meet the prerequisite equivalent subjects. View equivalency charts here:

Students from other universities are advised to contact the Melbourne Physiotherapy School to discuss their eligibility and application.

Professional Workforce
If you are currently working and completed an undergraduate degree within the last 10 years from a relevant field with subjects studied in human anatomy and human physiology, then you are eligible to apply for the Doctor of Physiotherapy *.
