Doctor of Medicine (MD)

The degree of Doctor of Medicine may be taken by approved candidates as a supervised research program or, for University of Melbourne graduates only, as non-attending candidates for the submission of a compilation of published work or as a thesis.

Course structure

The course consists of an approved supervised program of not less than two years full-time research (or equivalent part-time). The research program must be considered to represent a substantial contribution to knowledge, and be relevant to the theory and practice of medicine.

Entry requirements

The candidate must have an approved MBBS degree or recognised equivalent of at least two years' standing.
