Bachelor of Science (Honours) Movement Science

Introduction

The School of Physiotherapy, the Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine and the Rehabilitation Science Research Centre offer an Honours program for students who have completed the Bachelor of Science. This program enables Bachelor of Science students to become involved in movement science including aspects related to health, exercise, sports medicine, neuromuscular control and rehabilitation research in a multidisciplinary environment. These will increase graduates employment opportunities. The School of Physiotherapy and its research centres and staff have built a considerable international reputation for teaching and research excellence and house state of the art research facilities.

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Movement Science program offers research projects that enable students to understand abnormalities of human movement and the importance of conservative strategies to improve health. These areas of research are not otherwise available to science graduates. Students will interact with the Advanced Medical Science students and with Research Higher Degree students within the School of Physiotherapy and its research centres.

Research areas may encompass applied anatomy, biomechanics, applied physiology, motor control, epidemiology, sports medicine, neurology, orthopaedics, rehabilitation and psychosocial issues.

Please also refer to the University of Melbourne Undergraduate Handbook entry for useful information about the honours year.
